About the Role
We are looking for Concrete Laborers, Form Setters, and Finishers to join our Texas Division in the El Paso area.
Responsibilities
Concrete Laborer
- Spreads concrete into forms using rake or shovel.
- Mixes cement using hoe or concrete mixing machine.
- Breaks up and repairs concrete surfaces using pneumatic tools.
- Cleans work areas, machines, and equipment to maintain a clean and safe job site.
- Fine grades soil on ground to achieve proper thickness of concrete.
- Selects tools, equipment, and materials from storage and transports items to job sites.
- Performs any and all other duties assigned.
Form Setter
- Erects built-in-place forms or assembles and installs prefabricated forms on construction site according to blueprint specifications using hand tools, plum rule, and level.
- Inserts spreaders and tie rods between opposite faces of form to maintain specified dimensions.
- Anchors and braces forms to fixed objects using nails, bolts, and anchor rods.
- Saws lumber to blueprint dimensions using handsaw or power saw and nails lumber together to make form panels.
- Performs any and all other duties assigned.
Concrete Finisher
- Signals concrete delivery to position truck to facilitate pouring concrete.
- Moves discharge chute off truck to direct concrete into forms.
- Spreads concrete into inaccessible sections of forms using rake or shovel.
- Levels concrete to specified depth and workable consistency using hand-held screed and floats to bring water to surface and produce soft tapping.
- Smoothes and shapes surfaces of freshly poured concrete using straightedge and float or power screed.
- Finishes concrete surfaces using power trowel or wets and rubs concrete with abrasive stone to impart finish.
- Removes rough or defective spots from concrete surfaces using power grinder or chisel and hammer and patches holes with fresh concrete or epoxy compound.
- Molds expansion joints and edges using edging tools, jointers, and straightedge.
- May sprinkle colored stone chips, powdered steel, or coloring powder on concrete to produce prescribed finish.
- May produce rough concrete surface using broom.
- May direct sub-grade work, mixing of concrete, and setting of forms.
- May break up and repair old concrete surfaces using pneumatic tools.
- Performs any and all other duties assigned.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Six (6) months to one (1) year of related experience preferred.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
This position operates at professional construction sites, requiring:
- Ability to communicate verbally with others on site, in person and over the telephone.
- Ability to read printed materials, signs, and directions.
- Stamina to maintain attention despite interruptions.
- Ability to lift, push, pull, carry, handle or feel objects, supplies, tools, machinery, and/or controls weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to reach with hands and arms; climb stairs and/or ladders; balance, bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, lift overhead, traverse around or otherwise position oneself safely on construction sites.
- Working outside, frequently for long periods in all weather conditions, including extreme hot and cold temperatures.
- Potential exposure to various chemicals, vapors, pollutants, viruses or other pathogens, gases, uneven surfaces, loud noises, moving vehicles or machines, and dust/debris.
Schedule
This is a full-time position. Occasional overtime and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.
