About the role

DPR Construction is looking for Concrete Carpenters to join our Fort Lauderdale business unit. We are seeking local Fort Lauderdale candidates with 3+ years of experience in all aspects of concrete in commercial construction, including forms, walls, and elevations.

Responsibilities

  • Establish finish grade during the pour of slabs.
  • Read tape measures and tie rebar.
  • Set string lines for concrete forms.
  • Perform concrete placement and finish, including placing, finishing, curing, and cutting of concrete slabs.
  • Apply floor toppings and finishes to meet project requirements for floor flatness and levelness.
  • Erect and set forms for concrete structures, buildings, and site work according to specifications and drawings.
  • Ensure proper cross slopes and acceptable tolerances for sidewalks, ADA ramps, curbs, driveways, and other concrete structures.
  • Perform patching, repairing, restoration, and joint treatments of concrete work.
  • Use tools such as straight edges, bull floats, mops, highway straight edges, float blades, combo blades, hand tools, sledgehammers, hand saws, power drills, saws, lasers, and finish blades at the appropriate time in the place-finishing sequence.
  • Use hand tools for floor finishing, edging, and joint tooling, including single and double trowel machines, curing equipment, pumps, vibratory equipment, walk-behind trowels, and double riders.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of all tools and equipment required for the job.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience in commercial concrete construction.
  • Proficiency in reading tape measures and setting string lines.
  • Experience with rebar tying and concrete form setting.
  • Knowledge of proper cross slopes and acceptable tolerances for various concrete structures.
  • Ability to use a wide range of concrete finishing tools and equipment.

Physical Requirements

  • Climbing, standing, sitting, walking, reaching, bending, balancing, squatting, and kneeling for prolonged periods.
  • Ability to lift, push, or pull up to 50 lbs.

Working Conditions

  • Work occurs primarily in an on-site environment, indoors or outdoors.
  • Exposure to heights, hot or cold weather, loud noises, dust, and fumes.
  • Must wear all required PPE at all times, including safety vest, protective eyewear, hearing protection, gloves, sleeves, hard hat, face shield, and approved footwear (e.g., rubber boots).
