Concierge
About the Role
The Concierge position at Ocean House Management is unique and challenging, serving both guests and fellow employees while fostering a sense of community within the local area. The role requires creating a welcoming atmosphere, communicating effectively with guests, and ensuring every inquiry is addressed efficiently and pleasantly. A Concierge must never say "No" but instead find solutions to guest questions in a resourceful manner.
Responsibilities
- Communicate effectively in English with patience, tact, and resourcefulness to meet guest demands.
- Provide a positive, lasting impression of the resort and local area for guests.
- Multi-task efficiently, handling telephones, computers, and in-person guest interactions simultaneously.
- Offer clear, concise directions (walking, driving, and verbal) and recommend resort activities and local attractions.
- Stay organized and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Uphold and promote the Company’s Statement of Purpose, Service Excellence Pillars, and Declarations.
- Maintain a positive attitude and professional presentation while representing the Company.
- Follow sustainability guidelines and practices related to the Company’s programs.
- Perform additional duties within the spirit and scope of the role as needed.
Requirements
- Past hotel/resort experience preferred, particularly in a luxury setting.
- Previous Concierge experience preferred.
- Flexibility to work mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays based on guest needs.
- Fluency in English, both verbally and in writing, with exceptional conversational skills.
- Ability to perform job functions with attention to detail, speed, and accuracy under pressure.
- Physical ability to stand for 8 hours per day.
- Adherence to Company standards, policies, and procedures.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize tasks.
- Remain calm and resolve problems using sound judgment.
- Work cohesively with co-workers as part of a team.
- Maintain confidentiality of guest, employee, and company information.
Schedule
The property operates 24/7, including holidays. Hourly staff may be required to work extended shifts and additional days based on business demands. The busiest periods are weekends (Friday through Sunday) and holiday weekends, particularly from Memorial Day through Columbus Day. Seasonal staff must be available to work all weekends, and time off during holiday weekends may not be granted. Flexibility in scheduling allows for greater opportunities to learn, grow, and earn.
Physical Requirements
The role requires the ability to be on your feet for up to 8 hours per day.
Reporting Relationship
This position reports directly to the Director of Front Office.
