About the role

AMA is seeking a Computer Science/Engineering intern to support work in our Hampton, VA location. The qualified candidate will apply the latest advancements in computer vision, including convolutional neural networks (CNNs) and vision transformers (ViTs), to improve degraded imagery/video feeds during lunar landing due to plume surface interaction (PSI) effects. This internship runs from September 8, 2026, to December 18, 2026, with remote work available.

Responsibilities

  • Apply computer vision techniques, including CNNs and ViTs, to enhance degraded imagery/video feeds caused by plume surface interaction effects during lunar landing.
  • Iterate designs based on feedback from the engineering team (GN&C, mechanical, flight test, etc.).
  • Produce engineering drawings and configuration-controlled CAD packages suitable for internal design reviews.
  • Develop reports, presentations, and other documentation with clear comments and guidance.
  • Attend meetings, teleconferences, and workshops as needed.

Requirements

  • Progress toward a degree (undergraduate or graduate) in technical areas such as Physics, Computer Science, or Engineering.
