About the role
Grove City College announces a regular full-time faculty opening in the Department of Computer Science. The department currently has six full-time faculty, offering three degrees to our vibrant, highly motivated undergraduate community: an ABET-accredited B.S. in Computer Science, a B.S. in Computer Programming, and a B.S. in Data Science. The department also supports a B.S. in Computer Engineering program in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering. The CS department has approximately 140 undergraduate students, with a majority in the B.S. in Computer Science program. The College is located north of the high-tech hub of Pittsburgh and is a member of the Pittsburgh Technology Council, a consortium of several hundred technology companies in the area. Several student and faculty projects involve collaboration with those companies.
Responsibilities
- Teach a variety of lower-level and upper-level undergraduate computer science and engineering courses
- Guide undergraduate student research projects
- Advise students
- Develop innovative pedagogy and curriculum
- Teach a 4/4 load
Requirements
- A Ph.D. in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a closely related field is preferred
- Candidates with a master’s degree who are working toward a terminal degree or have industry or research experience will be considered
- Preference will be given to those who have a strong record of effective undergraduate teaching as well as scholarship or industry experience within the field
- A strong, demonstrated understanding of and commitment to the Statement of Faith and Christian mission and vision of Grove City College is required
Qualifications
Strong applicants will be considered in any area, particularly including cybersecurity, DevOps, game design, or embedded systems. A courtesy appointment in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering will be considered for appropriately qualified candidates.
