Computer-Aided Drafting & Design Technician - Architectural

Chenega Military, Intelligence & Operations Support (MIOS) is seeking a Computer-Aided Drafting & Design Technician - Architectural to support the Air Force Research Laboratory at Wright-Patterson AFB (WPAFB). Responsibilities
- Develop designs, drawings, and/or specifications for engineering projects, facilities, structures, systems, equipment, devices, materials, or methods using the AFRL RQOE Feature Modeling (3DCAD) and Computer-Aided Engineering/Manufacturing (CAE/CAM) system.
- Perform design calculations, prepare layouts, detailed specifications, parts lists, and estimates as required.
- Transform rough sketches or verbal descriptions into practical, economically manufacturable equipment designs.
- Provide detailed information on required parts, including material composition, dimensions, electrical and safety characteristics, procurement sources, and cost.
- Produce workable designs for mechanical components related to high-speed rotating machinery and lightweight structures involving sophisticated manufacturing and assembly procedures.
- Ensure all designs are optimized for ease of maintenance, assembly, and reliability.
- Develop designs and engineering information using appropriate CAD/CAE software or Microsoft Office Platform.
- Complete annual company and customer-required training.
- Submit daily timesheets in an online system according to company policies.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Associate degree in Architectural Drafting or Architecture.
- Time in trade school or related post-associate degree technical curriculum may be considered equivalent experience.
- 2+ years of architectural drafting technical experience, including:
- Experience with architectural layouts, building modeling, rendering, and space allocation, including office layouts.
- Must be a U.S. citizen.
- Public Trust/NACI clearance required to start.
Skills
- Proficiency with CAD/CAE or Microsoft Office Platform software.
- Familiarity with Stratasys Fortus 250, Fortus 450, and FormLabs 2 Source Graphics.
- Experience with SolidWorks, Revit, and AutoCAD.
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Ability to comply with applicable codes and standards.
- Ability to pass customer security requirements.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong critical thinking skills.
- Willingness to work nights and weekends as required.
- Ability to travel up to 10% as needed.
