About the Role

Computed Tomography/Radiologic Technologist is responsible for performing general CT and CT Angiograms, radiologic procedures, and operating the PAC System. Registry in CT is preferred or registry eligible. This position includes weeknight and weekend call. Employee performs all duties in a manner consistent with the mission and values of MVMC.

Responsibilities

• Performs CT exams per MVMC protocols.
• Performs X-Ray exams per MVMC protocols.
• Follows ALARA standards.
• Calibrates and maintains CT scanner and X-Ray Imaging equipment.
• Uses proper shielding and collimation for safety of patients, self, and co-workers.
• Assesses patient for appropriate IV site.
• Educates the patient about the type of study being performed and the preparation required.
• Assesses for contraindications for IV and Oral contrast.
• Administers IV and Oral contrast material as appropriate for each patient.
• Demonstrates basic computer and PACS skills for scheduling through the current EMR System for Imaging patients, billing, and transferring information to radiologists and other medical entities.
• Works long hours in a sometimes stressful environment.
• Communicates effectively with medical providers and radiologists.
• Maintains accurate logs and quality control data.
• Maintains a safe working environment.
• Responds to weeknight and weekend call.
• Maintains stock and cleanliness of rooms.
• Maintains CT local database.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
• Ensures satisfactory time and attendance.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or G.E.D. equivalent.
• 2 years’ experience in Radiology and basic cross-training in CT modules preferred.
• ARRT Registry and Montana State License required.
• Maintains continuing education requirements.
• BLS certification required.

Non-Essential Functions

• Attends workshops, seminars, and educational sessions to stay updated on changes in assigned areas of responsibility.

Physical Demands and Working Conditions

• Extensive standing and walking with occasional reaching, stooping, kneeling, and crouching.
• Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull at least 50 pounds.
• Ability to move patients in wheelchairs or on gurneys.
• Very good close vision and ability to identify and distinguish color.
• Some risk of radiation exposure.
• Some risk of electrical shock.
• Work environment is a clean hospital setting with quiet to moderate noise levels.
• Frequent keyboarding and repetitive movements.

Supervision

This position does not supervise other staff.

Category I: Employee will have occupational exposure to bloodborne pathogens in the performance of their routine job duties.
