Computational Seismologist | Remote

Contribute to research-grade physics benchmarks used to evaluate advanced language models. Work asynchronously with a fully remote, flexible schedule as an independent contractor.

About the role

• Solve, review, and validate complex physics problems across multiple specialized subfields.
• Help produce fully human-verified reference solutions for frontier physics reasoning.
• Typical commitment of ~10 hours per week over an 8-10 week project window, with opportunities for project extensions.

Requirements

• Graduate-level training in a relevant STEM field (MS, PhD, or equivalent research experience).
• Proven proficiency with at least one scientific software library relevant to computational seismology or geophysics.
• Strong Python skills for writing problem setups, oracle functions, and solution validators.
• Ability to work independently and refine problem designs based on feedback.
• Comfortable working in a Linux/terminal environment with remote compute sandboxes.

Pay

$70–$85 per hour, with weekly payouts via Stripe or Wise.

Schedule

10–40 hours per week, fully remote and flexible.
