About the role
The Department of Anesthesiology and Perioperative Medicine seeks a Computational Scientist to develop innovative computational methods and provide solutions leveraging mathematical theories and engineering principles. This role involves collaboration with team members to address complex challenges in research and computational science.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate in problem assessment, analysis, and development of computational methods or procedures.
- Independently evaluate, select, and apply appropriate methods to specific research problems.
- Propose solutions in engineering, sciences, and other fields using mathematical theories and techniques.
- Optimize and extend algorithms, analysis pipelines, and software to ensure effectiveness and scalability of computing infrastructure.
- Provide consultation and expertise with computer applications for complex research problems.
- Perform computerized data processing operations and statistical analyses of research data; create visualizations of results.
- Conduct code review, analysis review, and write summary reports for collaborators.
- Prepare figures for publication and assist in writing manuscripts.
- Present results internally and to collaborators and other groups.
- Develop computational methods to resolve research problems using multiple scientific methodologies.
- Partner with colleagues to address complex issues through evaluation and problem assessment.
- Conduct advanced research in computational science, including developing new algorithms, models, or simulations.
- Enhance and expand algorithms and software to guarantee efficiency.
- Provide technical support and expertise in computational modeling and simulation tools to other researchers and departments.
Requirements
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
- Ability to troubleshoot problems and construct solutions.
- Consulting skills.
- Ability to analyze, interpret, and display statistical data.
- Thorough knowledge of organization or research-specific computer application programs.
Qualifications
- Doctorate degree in a related field, or
- Master’s degree in a related field and two (2) years of related experience, or
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field and four (4) years of related experience.
Work experience may not substitute for education requirement.
Preferred Qualifications
- Degree in Computer Science, Biosystems Engineering, or a related field.
- Skills in data analysis, consulting, and research.
Pay
$85,600 - $139,100
Schedule
Day/1st Shift (final schedule to be determined by the department/hiring manager).
Work Arrangement
Remote/Hybrid eligible.
