About the role
The Computational Physics Group at Applied Research Associates, Inc. (ARA), Southwest Division (SWD), is seeking a Computational Physics Staff Engineer to develop and analyze large-scale CFD and CSD simulations. This position involves performing simulations on local and HPC systems to support various applications related to national security and DoD mission areas.
Responsibilities
- Develop and run CFD and CSD simulations on local and HPC systems
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to provide innovative solutions to customer needs
- Work with a team of engineers and scientists to leverage diverse backgrounds for project success
- Contribute to projects impacting national security and DoD mission areas
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in physics or engineering (mechanical, chemical, or aerospace)
- GPA of at least 3.0/4.0 for all degrees earned
- Ability to obtain a security clearance
- General problem-solving skills
- Strong technical writing and presentation skills
- Knowledge of compressible flow and shock physics
- Teamwork and initiative to work independently and manage multiple tasks
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in physics or engineering (mechanical, structural, chemical, or aerospace)
- Master's degree in physics or engineering (mechanical, structural, chemical, or aerospace) preferred
- Experience with HPC, code development, and high-fidelity simulations
- Experience with CFD meshing tools, such as PointWise, ANSYS/FLUENT
- Experience comparing and analyzing experimental/simulation data
Skills
- Python, Julia, Fortran, C, C++, Matlab, or R programming
- Unix/Linux operating systems
- Data manipulation and presentation using Excel, DPlot, MATLAB, or Mathematica
- Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
