Responsibilities
- Use existing embodied fly models (e.g., Flybody, NeuroMechFly/Flygym) to simulate Drosophila melanogaster behaviors.
- Create compelling demonstrations of virtual flies performing tasks in a virtual environment.
- Create virtual environments and bodies in Drosophila, and eventually mice.
- Customize and iterate models to achieve biologically plausible behaviors.
- Document all code and workflows to ensure reproducibility.
Skills
- Proficiency in Python, and familiarity with scientific computing libraries (e.g., NumPy, Matplotlib).
- Experience with brain or biomechanics simulation tools (e.g., MuJoCo, the Gymnasium API, Flybody, Flygym, Brian2).
- Knowledge of neuroscience, computational biology, or related fields.
- Strong ability to create polished and engaging visualizations.
Qualifications
- PhD or equivalent qualifications in neuroscience or related field would be ideal, but is not required.
Representative Projects
- Creation of embodied, virtual flies
- Visualization of brain activity
- Planning experimental data collection to best complement our computational biology data sets
Pay
Competitive salary, including equity, apply. Compensation Range: $130K - $170K
