Computational Neuroscience Intern | Joy Lab

About the role

The Joy Lab at The Jackson Laboratory (JAX) is seeking a motivated Computational Neuroscience Intern for a summer internship. The Joy Lab focuses on studying mechanisms of neural repair after stroke through large-scale neural recordings, ethological behavior measurements, optogenetics, and transcriptomics.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement statistical and machine learning models for data analysis, data mining, data curation, and storage in research repositories.
• Work with datasets collected from neurophysiological recordings and animal behavior experiments.
• Contribute to scientific publications by applying analytical models to complex datasets.
• Collaborate closely with members of the Joy Lab to learn about relevant biological questions and scientific literature.

Requirements

Candidates are expected to have an undergraduate degree. A master’s degree or experience in neuroscience, machine learning, computational biology, statistics, data science, or a related field is desirable.

Qualifications

• Strong background in computational neuroscience, machine learning, statistics, or a related field.
• Experience with data analysis and management.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
• Interest in neural repair mechanisms and computational modeling.

Skills

• Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, R, or MATLAB.
• Knowledge of statistical and machine learning techniques.
• Experience with data manipulation and analysis tools like pandas, NumPy, scikit-learn, TensorFlow, or PyTorch.

Pay

Pay Range: $14.5 - $30.51 per hour

Schedule
