Responsibilities
- Produce high-quality, verbatim transcriptions while strictly adhering to all transcription conventions, formatting standards, and project-specific guidelines.
- Accurately transcribe and annotate complex audio recordings, including overlapping speech, background noise, multiple speakers, varying accents, fast-paced conversations, and inconsistent audio quality.
- Review and follow detailed annotation guidelines with precision.
- Accurately tag and annotate audio according to project requirements, including speaker segmentation, speaker count, speaker attributes, timestamps (where applicable), and all other required metadata.
- Evaluate each task and assign the appropriate status (e.g., Complete or Discard) in accordance with project guidelines. For discarded tasks, provide the appropriate discard reason.
- Conduct thorough self-reviews to ensure accuracy, consistency, completeness, and full compliance with all project requirements before submission.
- Consistently meet productivity, quality, and turnaround time targets while maintaining a high level of accuracy.
Requirements
- Idiomatic fluency in German, with excellent knowledge of its grammar, orthography, and regional variation.
- Advanced English comprehension and communication skills;
- Degree in linguistics, computational linguistics, language technology, phonetics, NLP, or a related field.
- Experience with speech data, transcription, linguistic annotation, ASR evaluation, or language-data quality assurance.
- Ability to interpret detailed guidelines and turn ambiguous cases into clear, consistent decisions.
- Excellent analytical, written communication, and documentation skills.
- Familiarity with annotation platforms or language-data projects is preferred.
