Computational Designer- Structural
Responsibilities
As a Computational Designer, you will lead the development and application of advanced digital workflows and data-driven strategies to enhance project delivery across the firm. You will collaborate closely with structural engineering teams on complex, high-impact projects while contributing to the growth of firmwide digital practice initiatives alongside other computational design specialists. This role requires strong communication and presentation skills, a proactive mindset for continuous improvement, and a commitment to lifelong learning. You will work across multiple projects simultaneously, partnering with interdisciplinary teams located in various offices. The position also involves direct engagement with clients throughout the project lifecycle and participation in industry events. In addition to project work, you will play a key role in advancing digital initiatives across the firm. This includes supporting the development, implementation, and adoption of new tools and technologies, as well as educating and collaborating with colleagues across departments.
Qualifications
- 3+ years of experience in developing and applying advanced digital workflows in the AEC industry
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Architecture or Civil Engineering with emphasis in Structural Engineering
- Understanding of BIM as a process and concepts of parametric modeling, computational design, and interoperability
- Expert knowledge of Rhinoceros and Grasshopper
- Experience using Revit with project teams in professional settings
- Ability to communicate visually with data visualizations, diagrams, and 3D renderings
- Capability of learning new software and associated techniques quickly
Desired, but not Required
- Experience in a programming language (ideally Python, C#, or Javascript)
- Experience with Git and collaborative coding
- Experience with web development
- Understanding of Machine Learning fundamentals and applications
- Experience using Rhino.Inside
- Experience using PowerBI or similar data visualization tools
- Experience with Adobe Creative Suite
- Experience using Tekla Structures
- Experience with structural analysis software such as ETABs and SAP2000
