About the role

The Computational Designer at WATG will work closely with the Design Technology Team and Design Teams to develop innovative design solutions using advanced software and techniques. This role requires a strong foundation in Rhino and Grasshopper, along with proficiency in Python, C#, Java, and other relevant programming languages.

Responsibilities

  • Conceptualizes and develops design ideas, generating diagrams, digital models, presentation materials, and providing production work for various project types.
  • Prepares design presentations for clients, communities, and other stakeholders.
  • Contributes to the research, development, and implementation of computational design and AI technologies.
  • Develops and communicates model and data-driven design methodologies.
  • Conducts research and develops projects related to computational design and AI.
  • Promotes WATG's reputation for design technology expertise through participation in industry events and technical forums.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Landscape Architecture, Planning, Interior Design, Engineering, Computational Design, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of progressive experience with Rhino and Grasshopper design environments, including customizations, development of definitions, algorithms, design workflows, standards, and best practices.
  • Proficiency in Python, C#, Java, Rhino and/or Revit APIs.
  • Experience with acceleration, analysis, automation, and customization tools.
  • In-depth understanding of algorithmic and parametric design principles and their implementation in practice.
  • Practical experience in designing and developing complex computational systems and digital workflows.
  • Able to write and debug custom scripts and definitions.
  • Excellent organizational and persuasive communication skills.

Benefits

WATG offers a competitive salary range of $75,000.00 to $110,000.00 per year, along with comprehensive benefits including health insurance, retirement plans, and professional development opportunities.

Schedule

This is a full-time position based in Tustin, Los Angeles, or Dallas.
