About the role

The Computational Biologist will work on the analysis of new and existing genomic datasets to advance efforts in Pediatric Cancer Genomics, with the goal of arriving at new insights around cancer risk, clinical biomarkers, and precision cancer medicine to advance the care of pediatric cancer patients.

Responsibilities

  • Carry out data analysis
  • Develop and support data processing and analysis tools
  • Create new algorithms for emerging clinically focused needs with an emphasis on bulk and single cell tumor analysis
  • Maintain datasets and databases
  • Integrate tools and databases into existing high-throughput pipelines
  • Facilitate the display and the distribution of processed data
  • Generate tools needed for manipulating and preparing data for display
  • Transfer data to external collaborators and data repositories
  • Maintain, support, and document shared tools, code, and data sets
  • Work on diverse and flexible opportunities in software design and predictive modeling

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a STEM field
  • Master’s degree preferred in bioinformatics, computational biology, statistics, biostatistics, computer science and/or the life sciences
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience with Bachelor’s degree or 0 years with Master’s degree; academic research experience or authorship in scientific publications experience may substitute for work experience

Qualifications

  • Willingness to learn new languages and tools as the field grows
  • Interest in cancer biology/medicine more broadly

Skills

  • Strong programming skills in Python, R, or similar languages
  • Experience with bioinformatics tools and databases
  • Knowledge of statistical methods and machine learning techniques
  • Experience with cloud computing platforms like AWS or Google Cloud

$75,000.00 - $91,500.00
