Comptroller - Data Analyst
About the role
The Unclaimed Property Division is responsible for administering the state's unclaimed property program and returning abandoned property to its rightful owners. Staff members perform various tasks including compiling, reviewing, and validating data for statistical reports, processing requests for database files, responding to inquiries, assisting with analysis, and implementing process improvements.
Responsibilities
- Compile, review and validate data for statistical reports, budgetary reports and queries.
- Process requests for database files.
- Respond to inquiries regarding technical support such as hardware, local area networks, and system software.
- Aid the division director in analysis, research, and preparation of responses to technical requests for information.
- Serve as the division security coordinator and back-up purchasing/budget liaison.
- Assist with on-board activities for newly hired employees and contract staff.
- Maintain the division intranet website.
- Identify, develop and implement techniques for evaluating and improving division programs.
- Evaluate section operations to identify opportunities for business process improvements and make recommendations for procedure changes.
- Perform related duties as assigned.
Requirements
Minimum Qualifications:
- Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a Bachelor's degree.
- Two (2) years of experience researching, running reports or performing statistical analysis.
- Intermediate-level proficiency with VLOOKUP, Pivot Tables and #REFs in Microsoft Excel.
- Experience responding to customer telephone and email inquiries.
- Division Security Coordinator experience.
- Experience in identifying and implementing process improvements.
- Experience with budget-related activities (processing PAFs, monitoring expenditures, verifying invoices).
Qualifications
Education:
- One additional year full-time work experience providing administrative program support may substitute for thirty semester hours of the required education, with a maximum substitution of 120 semester hours (four years).
Skills
Intermediate-level proficiency with VLOOKUP, Pivot Tables and #REFs in Microsoft Excel.

Pay
Salary is contingent upon qualifications.
Schedule
Monday through Friday, 40 hours a week with occasional evening, weekend hours and holidays. Hours may change based on business need.
