About the role

The Compounding Engineer will be responsible for and execute all aspects of compounding operations (manufacturing, process, systems, quality, accounting, etc.) for the Augusta plant. This position will be accountable for establishing (with Production Coordinator) and implementing compounding plans and cost targets and for meeting overall business unit objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Ensuring safe operations by identifying and resolving unsafe acts and conditions within the unit.
  • Running EPO’s to qualify the new products on Augusta’s lines.
  • Resolving operational difficulties and providing technical problem solving capability to eliminate production of nonconforming materials.
  • De bottlenecking production to increase run rates and achieve targeted production costs.
  • Developing and implementing capital projects (as assigned) to support improvements in Compounding.
  • Managing the rework process for non-conforming, aged (slow moving) and/or obsolete materials.
  • Drafting/reviewing new unit MI’s to provide clear and concise instructions for the safe operation of the new equipment.
  • Tracking and communicating key unit performance measurements including yields, costs, reliability, production and quality metrics.
  • Serving as subject matter expert for at-line training to reinforce good manufacturing practices.
  • Streamlining work processes to optimize utilization of operations resources.
  • Fulfill the role as lean manufacturing champion for the compounding area.
  • Participating in setting up workflows to facilitate production at higher rates.
  • Supporting development and deployment of unit strategic vision.
  • Working with reliability engineer to support elimination of reoccurring equipment problems.
  • Designing and documenting screw profiles to provide optimal product run rates and physical properties.
  • Attending plant-wide safety/wellness sessions.
  • Reviewing/performing required safety audits, JSA’s and What-if scenarios.
  • Completing all required CBTs on time.
  • Participating in PSM, PHA, and PSSR field reviews, as well as Follow-Up Incident investigations as needed.
  • Maintaining a working knowledge of all plant environmental standards, ES-01 through ES-10.
  • Knowing the environmental permit limits for your assigned plant (air, waste water, storm water).
  • Maintaining a working knowledge of the Hazardous Waste Rules (RCRA) to include storage, handling, sampling, transporting, manifesting, record keeping, and emergency response.
  • Maintaining a working knowledge of the facility environmental plans (SPCC, Storm Water Pollution Prevention).

Requirements

Chemical Engineering with 2-5 years manufacturing experience required. Twin screw extrusion experience preferred. Analytical thinking and demonstrated proficiency using statistical analyses/techniques. Teamwork. Achievement motivation. Demonstrated problem solving skills. Oral & written communication skills. Planning & organizing ability.

Qualifications

Competitive salary and benefits package. The U.S. base salary range reasonably expected to be paid for this position is $94,960 to $118,700 per year. Since actual compensation packages are based on a variety of factors unique to each candidate we may ultimately pay more or less than the posted base salary range. Total compensation for this role also includes bonus and/or other incentives. 16, or more, weeks of maternity/paternity and co-parenting leave, according to local regulations. Competitive salary and benefits package. The U.S. base salary range reasonably expected to be paid for this position is $94,960 to $118,700 per year.
