This 2nd shift Compounder position focuses on spray-dry compounding in a production environment. The role involves accurately retrieving, weighing, and mixing ingredients, processing liquids and powders using homogenizing and spray-dry methods, and maintaining strict quality and food safety standards. You will work cross-functionally in a team setting to support batch production of food, flavor, and fragrance products.
Responsibilities
- Retrieve ingredients from designated storage areas and verify that all materials match batch requirements.
- Accurately measure ingredients using scales and other measuring equipment to ensure precise batch formulations.
- Mix various ingredients according to standard batch instructions, including dyes and other substances, and load them into appropriate equipment.
- Identify solids that require melting and safely melt them using hot plates and other approved methods.
- Determine which ingredients require dilution, perform proper dilution procedures, and record all raw material usage accurately.
- Maintain quality standards by verifying the weight and contents of raw materials before and during production.
- Conduct in-process batch inspections to confirm consistency, quality, and compliance with specifications.
- Document all process events thoroughly, including measurements, adjustments, and inspection results, in accordance with procedures and policies.
- Process liquid and powder formulations using homogenizing and spray-dry methods of compounding.
- Check for consistency in batches and measure the viscosity of mixtures to ensure they meet required parameters.
- Collect batch samples and deliver them to the laboratory for testing, following established sampling and chain-of-custody procedures.
- Follow all food safety guidelines, including sanitation and handling protocols, to protect product integrity.
- Complete accurate documentation of all work performed, including batch records, logs, and quality forms.
- Adhere to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and all safety protocols, including the use of proper personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Wear the required uniform and PPE at all times while working in production areas.
- Collaborate with team members and cross-functional partners to meet production goals and resolve issues promptly.
Requirements
- 6 months to 1 year of experience in compounding powders and raw materials in a production or manufacturing environment.
- Hands-on experience with chemical mixing, compounding, and batch making processes.
- Experience in chemical manufacturing or similar production settings involving raw material handling and blending.
- Demonstrated ability to work in a GMP environment and consistently follow safety and sanitation protocols.
- Ability to accurately weigh and measure ingredients using scales and other measuring tools.
- Experience handling and blending raw materials for food, flavor, or fragrance products or related applications.
- Strong attention to detail when following standard batch instructions and documenting process steps.
- Capability to monitor batch consistency and measure viscosity using appropriate tools.
- Commitment to following food safety guidelines and maintaining clean, organized work areas.
- Willingness and ability to wear a uniform and appropriate PPE throughout the shift.
Skills
- Familiarity with homogenizing and spray-dry methods of compounding.
- Comfort working with hot plates and other equipment used to melt and process solid ingredients.
- Ability to perform basic quality checks, in-process inspections, and sample collection for laboratory testing.
- Strong communication skills for working in a team-based, cross-functional environment.

Pay
The pay range for this position is $57,200.00 per year. Individual compensation offered within this range will depend on factors including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, and internal equity.
