Composite Technician IV
About the role
R&P Technologies is seeking an experienced Composite Technician IV to join our team in Pascagoula, MS. The role involves installing, repairing, and troubleshooting composite lamination and lay-up on US Navy ships. Responsibilities include providing training to technicians at lower levels, ensuring all work complies with safety and ship specifications, and managing daily production plans.
Responsibilities
- Train Technician Level III, II, and I personnel
- Ensure all composite production meets expectations of the Composite Superintendent
- Oversee shipboard installations, including composite manufacturing, outfitting, installation, RAM repair and installation
- Demonstrate and maintain leadership qualities, guiding junior personnel
- Deconflict issues during task completion
- Manage surface preparation and composite lamination/infusion/installation of various laminates/RAM tile systems
- Aid in material research, purchase requests, job planning, and material receipt
- Create and maintain QA binders, POA&Ms, TIPs, and reports for customers and Operations Managers
- Coordinate with other lead technicians, operations managers, and superintendents for personnel assignments and job completion
- Assist shipboard task leads in installations, identifying hazards and malfunctions, and repairing/replacing damaged equipment
- Ensure personnel adhere to company's QMS and safety programs
- Follow lockout/tagout procedures
- Provide training and feedback for assigned personnel
- Maintain S-Drive folders, scanning and uploading QA and shipboard documents
- Aid in biannual evaluations and scheduling PTO reports for personnel
- Promote team building, employee growth, and recognition
- Use Microsoft Office and Adobe Acrobat DC; proficiency with Microsoft Project is preferred
- Have a strong background in structural and composite work with 3-5 years of relevant experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Read, understand, and follow customer work item requirements, drawings, and wiring diagrams
- Show a keen attention to detail and be quality metric driven
- Be a U.S. citizen with the ability to obtain/maintain a DoD Secret security clearance (current active Secret clearance is a plus)
- Speak and write fluently in English
- Have supervisory experience and demonstrated ability to use power, pneumatic, and hand tools
- Have excellent critical thinking and problem-solving abilities
- Have appropriate physical condition for working in a heavily industrial shipyard environment
- Be willing to travel to various locations for assigned projects
- Have thorough knowledge of safety procedures and guidelines; Shipyard Competent Person certification is preferred
- Have OSHA 10 - Maritime certification is preferred
Qualifications
Must be a U.S. citizen with the ability to obtain/maintain a DoD Secret security clearance (current active Secret clearance is a plus).
Skills
Proficient in Microsoft Office and Adobe Acrobat DC; proficiency with Microsoft Project is preferred.
