About the role

The Composite Technician is accountable for the beginning stages of creating prosthetics using a "lay-up" method with carbon fiber sheets. This position plays a critical role in providing components that meet quality standards and support our overall business goals.

Responsibilities

  • Apply multiple layers of material/fiber to surfaces, ensuring adhesion and repeating the process until the desired thickness, contour, and strength is achieved.
  • Fit and smooth successive layers of materials in the proper orientation to secure build-up free from wrinkles, air pockets, contaminations, and voids.
  • Work from work orders, specifications, and written instructions to lay-up composites.
  • Use basic composite bagging procedures to complete the lay-up process.
  • Load and cure composite components in the press load or autoclave, if required.
  • Monitor and verify the quality of the finished product.
  • Document work according to the manufacturing order process.
  • Promote a safe work area and general shop safety.

Requirements

  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
  • Less than 1 year of related experience (no experience necessary; training provided).
  • Must have, or be eligible to obtain, a valid driver's license and driving record within company standards.
  • Comfortable using power tools and standard shop equipment.
  • Ability to read and follow detailed work instructions and prints.
  • Capable of lifting loads up to 50 lbs. unassisted.
  • Self-motivation and inclination to take ownership of job duties.
  • Adherence to company policies and safety procedures.
  • Basic math skills (addition, subtraction, division, and multiplication).
  • Basic computer skills; ability to open and find data in simple applications.
  • English/Spanish bilingual skills a plus.
