About the Role

Conducts all assigned work in a safe manner, adhering to all applicable safety, environmental, and contamination control policies, procedures, and regulations. Maintains high awareness of applicable technical changes in the industry and performs other duties as assigned.

Responsibilities

  • Wears proper personal protective equipment and attends required technician training classes.
  • Maintains necessary tools to diagnose, disassemble, and assemble engines, transmissions, transfer cases, axles, final drives, and differentials to manufacturer’s specifications.
  • Performs designated repairs and rebuilds on customer or company-owned components, including engines, transmissions, transfer cases, axles, final drives, and differentials.
  • Works neatly and orderly, improving work methods, work area, and safety standards.
  • Assists in maintaining facility appearance and shop conditions, including housekeeping and contamination control.
  • Inspects components to maximize parts reuse and control repair costs.
  • Completes required documentation using appropriate software to record repairs and account for repair times.
  • Researches safety and product updates, completing warrantable repairs in accordance with manufacturer guidelines.
  • Monitors job expenses versus repair estimates and informs supervisors of cost overruns before job completion.
  • Temporarily assumes supervisory responsibilities as needed.
  • Maintains positive conduct supportive of the work team and sets standards for others.
  • Contributes to team efforts by accomplishing tasks on time while maintaining safety and quality expectations.
  • Trains and mentors team members to improve their technical skills and competencies.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED.
  • 5-6 years of relevant experience.
  • Ability to comprehend written material and communicate orally and in writing with employees and customers.
  • Completion of required training curriculum to be designated a Component Specialist I.
  • Moderate proficiency in using computers, Microsoft Office products, and relevant dealer software programs.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Successfully completed specialized equipment technical courses.

Working Conditions

  • Workload Fluctuation: Job frequently involves changes in priorities, complexity, and quantity of work.
  • Work Schedule: Work is scheduled after regular business hours, with frequent requirements to work days, holidays, and weekends.
  • Physical Demands:
    • Frequently: Climbing, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing/pulling/lifting up to 25 lbs, talking, hearing.
    • Occasionally: Balancing, stooping, pushing/pulling/lifting 26-50 lbs, pushing/pulling/lifting over 50 lbs.
    • Constantly: Grasping, repetitive motion, sitting.
  • Environmental Conditions:
    • Constantly: Inside conditions (protected from weather but not temperature changes), noise sufficient to require shouting, vibration, hazards (e.g., moving parts, electrical current, working in high places, exposure to heat/chemicals), exposure to fumes, odors, dust, mists, gases, or poor ventilation, oils, and air particulates/contaminants (respirator may be required).
    • Occasionally: Outside environmental conditions, extreme cold, extreme heat.
