Component Manufacturing Engineer

About the role

This position is responsible for developing, maintaining, and continuously improving metal removal machine processes. The ideal candidate will have experience with various metal removal machining processes including finish precision grinding, finish honing, and CNC milling.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain metal removal machine processes, ensuring CPK capabilities meet customer requirements.
• Operate and maintain multiple types of metal removal machining equipment such as ID/OD precision Grinders, ID precision honing machines, CNC milling and turning machines (Mazak experience a major plus).
• Research and assist with mechanical/electronic or PLC repairs, and write preventative maintenance work orders to improve equipment uptime.
• Write detailed work instructions and develop PFMEA documents for machining processes.
• Train operators and process technicians on machining equipment and participate in cross-functional teams.
• Implement Kaizen Lean practices to improve processes and manage multiple projects with thorough communication across departments.

Requirements

• Experience with metal removal machining processes, including finish precision grinding, finish honing, and CNC milling.
• Familiarity with metal removal machining equipment such as ID/OD precision Grinders, ID precision honing machines, CNC milling and turning machines (Mazak experience a major plus).
• Statistical Process Control experience for data and process analysis.
• Experience in fixture design for machining high production components.
• Ability to write detailed work instructions and develop PFMEA documents.
• Experience working with and training operators and process technicians.
• Experience working with cross-functional teams and senior leadership.
• Experience with RFQ development and capital projects.

Qualifications

A Mechanical/ Electrical Bachelor’s Degree is preferred; comparable experience will be considered.
