About the role
This position requires sound judgment, strong analytical skills, discretion, and the ability to remain neutral when evaluating discrepancies between information provided by candidates and verified background information. The successful candidate will assess potential risks while considering applicable laws, regulations, policies, precedent, and organizational standards. This role operates independently in a complex environment and works collaboratively with Human Resources, Legal, Ethics and Compliance, Recruiting, and other stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Review background investigation results and identify discrepancies with candidate credentials that are not addressed by established adjudication guidelines.
- Evaluate disclosed discrepancies objectively and consistently before making a decision.
- Interview background investigation vendors and/or individuals involved in an investigation when additional clarification is needed.
- Make timely decisions based on applicable laws, regulations, policies, precedent, and sound risk judgment.
- Determine whether employment approval should be granted or denied based on investigation findings.
- Periodically review and recommend revisions to the adjudication matrix used by Recruiting.
- Create and maintain detailed records of adjudication decisions and supporting rationale.
- Develop and maintain decision analytics for reporting purposes.
- Maintain strict confidentiality of all adjudication and background investigation information.
- Monitor business challenges and regulatory developments that may affect the adjudication process.
- Schedule and participate in regular meetings with operations management and Human Resources Business Partners.
- Conduct investigations and recommend resolutions in collaboration with Legal, Ethics and Compliance, Human Resources, and other appropriate stakeholders.
- Identify and recommend process, product, and service improvements.
- Resolve unique and complex issues that may have a broad impact on the organization.
- Utilize computers and relevant software effectively.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree.
- At least 1 year of relevant work experience.
- Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered.
- Strong ability to make timely, informed decisions in complex situations.
- Ability to evaluate sensitive information objectively and maintain neutrality.
- Strong analytical, investigative, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Computer and software proficiency.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams.

Pay and Schedule
- Pay Rate: $35.00 per hour
- Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM-5:00 PM; flexible start/end times may be available
- Duration: Approximately 3.5 months
- Contract Dates: October 1, 2026 - January 11, 2027
- Work Arrangement: Onsite
