Compliance Specialist
Job Description
The Compliance Specialist ensures that school-age children are compliant with school requirements. They investigate causes of unexcused or excessive absences, review academic completion, communicate with families, and assist them in problem-solving compliance issues. They also implement structured interventions to address underlying causes of noncompliance.
Responsibilities
- Coordinates school-wide compliance and truancy reduction efforts with a two-fold focus: educating families on compliance requirements and prevention strategies, and implementing structured interventions to address underlying causes of noncompliance.
- Makes sure that student attendance, engagement, login activity, and academic progress data are monitored and analyzed to proactively identify compliance risks.
- Communicates with all stakeholders through all required channels.
- Maintains accurate and audit-ready documentation in accordance with state reporting requirements and internal policy.
- Develops and distributes compliance tracking reports for school leadership, district personnel, and state reporting agencies.
- Implements escalation procedures for students at risk of noncompliance, including coordination with counselors, administration, and external agencies when necessary.
- Supports families in submitting required documentation for excused absences and compliance verification.
- Collaborates with community agencies and internal staff to address barriers contributing to truancy or disengagement.
- Participates in compliance audits, CCRPI reporting preparation, and state monitoring reviews.
- Provides training and guidance to staff regarding compliance policies and documentation procedures.
- Maintains confidentiality of all student records in accordance with FERPA and state regulations.
- Performs cross-functional duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements
- A High School Diploma or General Equivalency Degree (GED) Certificate
- Two (2) years of truancy experience
- Two (2) years' experience gathering and providing data
- Equivalent combination of education and experience
Desired Qualifications
- An Associate's or Bachelor's Degree in Education, Counseling, Human Services, or related field of study
- Three (3) years of experience working with families in a similar capacity, enrollment, or truancy
- Three (3) years of management experience
- Prior educational experience in the form of Teaching, Counseling, Advising, Intervention, Social Work, or related fields
- A GaPSC Teaching/Educational Certificate
- Previous experience as a Learning Coach or Staff Member at Georgia Cyber Academy
- Previous experience as an online educator
- Previous experience with online educational tools/curriculum/assessments
- Knowledge of the SCSC Comprehensive Performance Framework
- Knowledge of GaDOE CCRPI
- Working knowledge of Infinite Campus (SIS)
- Working knowledge of Canvas (LMS)
- Proficient in use of Zoom conferencing tool
- Bi-lingual

Schedule
This is a Monday through Friday, 8 AM to 4 PM, 5 Days/Week, primarily remote position. In-Person Attendance: In-person attendance at professional development, training, conferences, job fairs, meetings, school events, marketing events, and/or testing sites will be required several times per year.
