Principal Duties and Responsibilities
- Administers self-insurance and monopolistic state programs by managing outside vendors in various states, maintaining accurate records, and providing timely reporting and payment to each entity.
- Maintains the process of distributing casualty and property certificates of insurance for all internal business needs to stores, distribution centers, drivers, and third-party vendors.
- Serves as the main point of contact for managing requests for certificates of insurance from third parties and reviewing/approving such certificates for merchandise vendors.
- Ensures accurate administration of invoices for the department, including coding, logging, and timely processing with Accounts Payable and Finance Accounting.
- Collaborates with Accounts Receivable to ensure timely distribution, coding, and depositing of department checks.
- Supports the risk management team with administrative tasks such as customer service, claims support, directing first notices, answering claims inquiries, supporting emails and claims correspondence, and distributing reports.
- Assists in responding to claims mitigation by coordinating with other departments like safety, store maintenance, lease administration, store operations, and construction.
- Contributes to capturing property information relevant to COPE data and loss information, as well as maintaining property inventory.
- Assists in general departmental support and cross-trains in other departmental activities as needed.
- Identifies and recommends opportunities for improving the total cost of risk within the department.
- Acts as a primary point of contact for insurance, claims, and safety inquiries within the Risk Management department.
Minimum Requirements/Qualifications
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Excel, etc.).
- 4+ years of administrative, compliance, or insurance-related experience.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and relationship skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills to convey complex compliance issues clearly and effectively.
- Ability to work independently, manage time, and handle multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Dedication to providing high-quality customer service.
- Ability to find creative solutions for problem-solving and business process improvement.
- Bachelor’s degree preferred, but not required.
- Desired qualifications include Professional Insurance Designations (SCLA, ARM, CPCU, etc.), retail experience, comfort with Excel, queries, and risk management information systems.

Pay
The start rate for this position is $66,000 to $77,000 based on experience, plus a 10% bonus.
