Now offering recruitment and referral incentives at the Delaware Department of Health and Social Services (DHSS). Eligibility requires being a new employee to the State of Delaware.

Incentives

  • $10,000 recruitment incentive for:

Recruitment incentives are paid in quarterly installments over the first year of hire, beginning after the first quarter of employment. New employees accepting the recruitment bonus must commit to two consecutive years of employment with DHSS. Referral bonuses are also paid in quarterly installments over the first year of the referred applicant’s employment. This program may be terminated by the State at any time.

About the Role

This position ensures the regulatory compliance of long-term care healthcare agencies/facilities in Delaware. The incumbent will conduct Federal certification and/or State licensure surveys, assess quality of care, develop deficiency reports, review corrective action plans, participate in updating regulations, and prepare/maintain records. The role may require appearances in courts of law or before boards/commissions.

Preferred Qualification

  • Experience in surveying or accrediting acute or long-term care providers for federal and state health care regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Conducts surveys of facilities and agencies for State and Medicare/Medicaid certification and/or licensure.
  • Consults with agencies and facilities to assist them in meeting requirements and improving health care delivery.
  • Investigates complaints against agencies/facilities, including allegations of regulatory violations and patient care issues.
  • Conducts in-service training programs at health care facilities or in the community to educate providers and interested groups on state-of-the-art health care.
  • Prepares and maintains records, reports, and summaries; may be required to appear in courts of law or before boards and commissions.

Requirements

  • At least two years’ experience as a Registered Nurse OR a Bachelor’s degree or higher in Nursing and at least one year of experience as a Registered Nurse OR a Master’s degree or higher in Nursing.
  • Possession of a Delaware Registered Nurse license OR a multi-state compact license.
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States; the State of Delaware participates in E-Verify.

Conditions of Hire

  • All new hires must attend the Statewide New Employee Orientation (SNEO) on their first day of employment.
  • This position is covered by a collective bargaining agreement.
