Compliance Field Technician / Tank & Line Tester

About the role

OWL Services is hiring motivated, hands-on individuals to join a growing team in the Underground Storage Tank (UST) compliance testing industry. The ideal candidate enjoys mechanical work, problem-solving, working outdoors, and learning a skilled trade.

Responsibilities

• Prepare sites for testing, inspection, and service work
• Set up testing equipment and safety equipment
• Access underground storage tank systems, including removing manhole lids
• Perform precision underground tank and line tightness testing
• Conduct leak detector testing and ATG certification
• Complete Stage I and Stage II vapor recovery testing
• Perform cathodic protection testing and secondary containment testing
• Conduct third-party facility operations inspections at gas station locations
• Assist with containment sump repairs
• Complete gasoline and diesel fuel tank cleaning
• Perform minor maintenance on tank and line systems
• Document work accurately using a tablet, phone, or computer
• Safely operate a DOT-registered commercial motor vehicle

Requirements

• Mechanical aptitude and experience using hand tools
• Background in trades, industrial, commercial, construction, field service, or other hands-on work environments preferred
• Ability to work independently and communicate effectively
• Comfortable using basic technology for field documentation
• Strong attention to safety and the ability to follow technical procedures
• Clean driving record
• Ability to pass a company-paid DOT physical and drug screen

Physical Demands

• Must be able to: Work for extended periods on knees or in squatting positions
• Work for extended periods in aerial lifts or on ladders
• Work outdoors in hot and cold environments
• Bend and perform tasks regularly
• Pull and break pipes loose
• Wear and properly utilize fall protection equipment
• Pass a respirator fit test and medical evaluation when required
• Enter confined spaces to perform tasks (when trained and authorized)
• Drive for extended periods of time safely and maintain focus while operating a vehicle
• Work on stomach to access underground equipment for extended periods
