About the Role

The Corporate Compliance and Ethics Consultant will consult with the division and assist the Director, Compliance and Ethics with maintaining and improving the Corporate Compliance and Ethics Program to ensure its continuing overall effectiveness. The position focuses on integrity in all business transactions and compliance with the Code of Ethical Business Conduct, policies, and all laws and regulations that apply to CareFirst. The consultant will utilize available software to assist with the design, implementation, monitoring, and improvement of the program and will lead activities to raise awareness of compliance and ethics throughout the year.

This role involves handling highly confidential information of executive-level management and board members and representing CareFirst at industry conferences to present best practices.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains awareness of corporate compliance and ethics practices, developments, and trends, particularly within a health insurance environment.
  • Seeks opportunities to improve the Corporate Compliance & Ethics Program and develop a corporate culture of ethics and compliance.
  • Develops, procures, and delivers creative content and tools to assist management and associates in understanding their roles and responsibilities in acting ethically and complying with company policies, laws, and regulations.
  • Analyzes, develops, and presents internal and board-ready detailed reports of data collected from the annual ethics survey, breaking down results to reveal company and departmental trends.
  • Develops, reviews, and revises Compliance and Ethics departmental SOPs as needed, at least annually.
  • Promotes an environment that supports CareFirst’s core values, serving as a role model for ethical behavior to foster a culture of compliance.
  • Creates, plans, coordinates, and implements activities for increasing the visibility and awareness of the Corporate Compliance & Ethics Program, including compliance and ethics week activities and ongoing initiatives.
  • Acts as lead liaison with agencies and entities examining CareFirst to evaluate the Corporate Compliance and Ethics Program, gathering and submitting required documentation.
  • Develops, updates, and maintains the Compliance and Ethics intranet website with assistance from the CareFirst Web Administrator.
  • Assists with the annual Conflict of Interest/Compliance Certification campaign and tracks completion of all forms.
  • Performs various duties to support the Corporate Compliance Officer, Director of Compliance and Ethics, and the Corporate Compliance & Ethics Program.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree.
  • 8 years of experience with advanced knowledge of ethical corporate compliance and demonstrated ability to apply elements of the Federal Sentencing Guidelines for organizations.
  • Certified Compliance & Ethics Professional (CCEP), Certified in Healthcare Compliance (CHC), or equivalent within 1 year of hire.

Skills

  • Knowledge of compliance program development and maintenance.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Strong research and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work on multiple projects and shift priorities.

Pay

The salary range for this position is $80,640 - $160,160. This range considers factors such as scope and responsibilities, candidate experience, education/training, internal peer equity, and market/business considerations. It is not typical for an individual to be hired at the top of the range.
