Compliance, Employment & Litigation Counsel
About the role
Fivetran and dbt Labs are seeking an experienced Compliance, Employment & Litigation Counsel to join our Legal team. This role will focus on global compliance, employment counseling and employment-related legal support across the United States, Canada, and Latin America, as well as assisting with a variety of dispute and litigation matters.
This role is ideal for an attorney who enjoys combining compliance and day-to-day employment counseling with litigation and dispute management in a fast-paced technology company. The successful candidate will have compliance, employment law, and litigation experience, and the ability to independently manage legal matters while collaborating effectively across functions.
This position will report to the VP, Compliance, Employment & Litigation. This role is a full-time hybrid position based in our Denver, CO, and Oakland, CA, offices. Our hybrid work model offers a blend of remote flexibility and in-person collaboration, including two days in the office each week to connect and build as a team.
Qualifications
- J.D. from an accredited law school and licensed to practice law
- 5+ years of legal experience, including significant compliance, employment and/or litigation experience
- Strong judgment and ability to provide practical, business-oriented legal advice
- A problem-solving mentality, willing to make a call and be an active decision maker
- Orientation towards process and operations, and ability to spot and act on improvements to systems, standards, templates, policies and practices that help reduce risk, remove friction, and propel the business
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
- Ability to independently manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Ability and willingness to work across time zones as needed; some travel may be required
Preferred Qualifications
- Strong preference for prior in-house experience
- Experience supporting a high-growth technology or SaaS company
- Experience advising on employment matters in Canada and/or Latin America
- Experience handling commercial disputes, contract disputes, vendor disputes, intellectual property matters, privacy-related disputes, or bankruptcy matters
- Understanding and experience handling complex e-discovery issues
- Experience working in a globally distributed organization
