Compensation Specialist

Duties

  • Provides advice and guidance on the full range of pay, premium pay, and leave administration laws, regulations, and policies
  • Troubleshoots and resolves payroll, leave, and time and attendance issues
  • Researches and resolves employee grievances involving pay and leave entitlements
  • Provides advice to managers and employees on VLTP
  • Researched, collects, and reports information for external payroll and financial audits
  • Applies pay rules and regulations in analyzing payroll information and resolving pay and leave errors or discrepancies
  • Consults with DOC on issues involving GovTA and the NFC processing/payroll system

Qualifications

  • BASIC REQUIREMENTS: One year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-7 level (ZA-I at NIST)
  • Specialized experience is defined as: Experience analyzing payroll information to identify and resolve pay errors; Interpreting and applying Federal pay rules and regulations; and Providing advice to employees on pay, leave, work schedules, and time and attendance rules.
  • OR Master's or equivalent graduate degree
  • OR 2 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree
  • OR LL.B. or J.D., if related
  • OR Equivalent combination of education and experience
