Companion Caregiver

About the role

Visiting Angels of Lufkin is hiring a Companion Caregiver to support senior adults in the Deep East Texas area, including locations such as Crockett, Lufkin, Nacogdoches, Berea, Pennington, Groveton, and others. This role involves providing compassionate care to help elderly clients maintain their independence and dignity at home.

Responsibilities

• Assist clients with personal care and hygiene
• Manage light housekeeping tasks
• Encourage clients to meet their exercise and fitness goals
• Prompt clients to take prescription medications at the correct times
• Assist with shopping, including putting away groceries or shopping on behalf of clients
• Plan and prepare meals in collaboration with clients, based on their abilities
• Support clients with mobility and ambulation, including in-home movement, doctor visits, and walks
• Respond quickly to medical emergencies and report any health changes or unusual circumstances

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Excellent time-management skills
• Reliable transportation to client visits
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Familiarity with basic housekeeping and cooking tasks
• Ability to pass a background check and drug screen
• Training or knowledge in First Aid and emergency response
• A compassionate heart for vulnerable individuals seeking meaningful companionship
• Willingness to comply with state and office-specific health and safety standards
