Companion Caregiver

About the role

Visiting Angels of Anniston is hiring a Companion Caregiver to support senior adults in the local area, including Talladega, Munford, Anniston, Harpersville, Riverside, Lincoln, and other communities. This role offers flexibility, growth opportunities, and the chance to make a meaningful difference in clients' lives.

Responsibilities

• Helping clients handle personal care and hygiene
• Managing light housekeeping
• Encouraging clients to meet their exercise and fitness goals
• Prompting clients to take their prescription medications at the right times
• Assisting with shopping and putting away groceries (or shopping for clients)
• Planning and preparing meals in collaboration with clients (based on client ability)
• Assisting clients with mobility and ambulation, including getting around the house, visiting the doctor, and taking walks
• Acting quickly in medical emergencies and reporting health changes or unusual circumstances

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Excellent time-management skills
• Reliable transportation to client visits
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Familiarity with basic housekeeping and cooking tasks
• Ability to pass a background check and drug screen
• Training or knowledge in First Aid and emergency response
• A heart for vulnerable people seeking meaningful companionship
• Willingness to comply with state and office-specific health and safety standards
