About the role
Visiting Angels of Abilene is hiring a Companion Caregiver to support senior adults in the Big Country area, including locations like Albany, Breckenridge, Stamford, and Throckmorton. This role offers flexibility, growth opportunities, and the chance to make a meaningful difference in clients' lives by helping them maintain independence and dignity at home.
Responsibilities
- Assist clients with personal care and hygiene
- Manage light housekeeping tasks
- Encourage clients to meet exercise and fitness goals
- Prompt clients to take prescription medications on schedule
- Assist with grocery shopping and meal planning/preparation based on client ability
- Support clients with mobility and ambulation, including doctor visits and walks
- Respond quickly to medical emergencies and report health changes or unusual circumstances
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Excellent time-management skills
- Reliable transportation to client visits
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Familiarity with basic housekeeping and cooking tasks
- Ability to pass a background check and drug screen
- Training or knowledge in First Aid and emergency response
- Compassion for vulnerable individuals seeking companionship
- Willingness to comply with state and office-specific health and safety standards
