About the role

The Community Wellness and Outreach Coordinator plays an essential role in Eddy County's efforts to combat alcohol-related issues by planning, developing, and implementing targeted program activities. The primary focus is preventing Driving While Impaired (DWI) offenses, binge drinking, underage drinking, and other alcohol-related harm within the community.

The Coordinator facilitates the Carlsbad DWI School, educating individuals on the dangers of impaired driving and promoting responsible behaviors. They also oversee and facilitate the DWISE Victim Impact Program, which provides insights into the ramifications of impaired driving through real-life stories from those affected by DWI incidents.

Regular reporting and participation in monthly DWI Program Advisory Council meetings are required. Office hours may vary, and the employee may need to work irregular hours or attend job-related meetings.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, develop, and implement prevention programs targeting DWI offenses, binge drinking, underage drinking, and other alcohol-related harm.
  • Facilitate the Carlsbad DWI School, educating participants on impaired driving dangers and responsible behaviors.
  • Oversee and facilitate the DWISE Victim Impact Program, sharing real-life stories from those affected by DWI incidents.
  • Obtain certification as a DWI School Facilitator within the first year of employment and serve as a senior facilitator.
  • Achieve and maintain certification as a Prevention Specialist, ensuring all prevention programs adhere to established standards under the oversight of a Certified Prevention Specialist.
  • Update the Prevention section of the Management Data System and perform other reporting functions as directed.
  • Participate in monthly DWI Program Advisory Council meetings.
  • Perform other job duties as assigned, including working irregular hours or attending job-related meetings.

Requirements

  • Obtain certification as a DWI School Facilitator within the first year of employment.
  • Achieve and maintain certification as a Prevention Specialist or actively work toward this qualification.

Pay

Starting salary range: $29.65 - $32.72 per hour.
