About the role
The Community Veterinary Program (CVP) at San Diego Humane Society is seeking a Full-Time Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) to deliver service at the gold standard level in alignment with the SDHS Way. This position will meet the needs of animals and the people who love them by leading with compassion, finding creative solutions, providing personalized care, and building connections.Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality veterinary care under the supervision of licensed veterinarians.
- Perform routine and complex medical procedures, including but not limited to vaccinations, spays, neuters, and other surgical procedures.
- Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by veterinarians.
- Assist in diagnostic testing and laboratory procedures.
- Monitor patient progress and report any changes to the veterinarian.
- Handle administrative tasks such as charting, billing, and inventory management.
- Collaborate with other team members to ensure smooth operation of the clinic.
Requirements
- A current RVT license from the California Board of Veterinary Medical Examiners.
- Bachelor’s degree in Veterinary Technology or related field.
- Minimum of one year of experience in a veterinary setting.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for extended periods.
Qualifications
- Experience with small animal medicine and surgery.
- Knowledge of veterinary pharmacology and anesthesia.
- Proficiency in electronic medical records systems.
