Community Support Team (CST) Substance Abuse Counselor - CADC
About The Role
We’re hiring a Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor (CADC) to join our dedicated behavioral health team in North Carolina. As a Substance Abuse Counselor, you’ll provide structured, evidence-based services to individuals living with substance use disorders. This includes supporting clients through assessment, counseling, education, and relapse prevention planning while collaborating with other professionals to ensure integrated care.
Responsibilities
- Deliver individual and group counseling for clients in recovery
- Conduct screening, intake, orientation, and assessments to guide treatment plans
- Develop individualized treatment plans addressing substance use and co-occurring concerns
- Provide crisis intervention, case management, and client education
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation according to agency and state standards
- Coordinate care with physicians, mental health professionals, and external resources
- Travel within assigned service areas to provide community-based support
Required Qualifications
- A high school diploma or equivalent
- Active fully certified CADC certification in the state of North Carolina
- A valid North Carolina driver’s license with a safe driving record
Preferred Qualifications
- An associate’s or bachelor’s degree in a Human Services or Behavioral Health field
- At least one year of experience providing substance use counseling
- Knowledge of addiction recovery models and relapse prevention strategies
