Community Support Specialist
About the role
Community Support Specialists (CSS) at Thresholds provide mental health and substance use treatment support in clients' communities. This role offers unique learning opportunities through care planning and case management, focusing on removing barriers to mental healthcare and supporting clients in daily living skills.
Responsibilities
- Engage in care planning to support clients' growth and recovery
- Connect clients with necessary resources and assist them in navigating complex systems
- Drive clients to appointments, benefit offices, and other essential locations
- Adapt to clients' schedules, needs, and treatment plans each day
Requirements
- Passion for mental health advocacy
- Effective communication and relationship-building skills
- Strong writing skills
- Good time management and organization
- Aged 21 or older
- Valid driver's license, current car insurance, and daily access to a car
- Willingness to provide transportation to clients
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED certificate and 5 years of supervised clinical experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Social Work, or related field
- Bachelor’s degree in an unrelated field and 2 years of supervised clinical experience
- Master’s degree in Psychology, Social Work, or related field
