Community Supervision Officer

About the role

The Community Supervision Officer (CSO) acts as a liaison between the criminal justice system and clients who have been placed on probation. You will ensure the client's caseload is properly managed and all conditions of their court order are successfully completed. This involves working closely with clients to assess progress, create and send case reports, complete drug screens, document interactions, and keep clients informed of upcoming court hearings.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and manage a caseload of clients on probation, in pre-trial status, or in the electronic monitoring program.
• Ensure compliance with all programs and court orders within the required timeframe.
• Collaborate with clients, judges, prosecutors, and others to develop and implement customized individual supervision plans.
• Assist the court and/or its representatives as needed.
• Conduct regular in-person, virtual, and phone visits with clients.
• Conduct drug and alcohol screening as required.
• Provide guidance and referrals for services such as substance abuse treatment, mental health counseling, job placement, or anger management.
• Maintain accurate and detailed records of all client interactions, progress, and compliance, and prepare reports for the court.
• Appear in court to provide testimony and recommendations regarding a client's progress and compliance.
• Stay updated on relevant laws, regulations, and best practices in community supervision and rehabilitation.
• Collect payments from clients, balance accounts, and make deposits for payments received.
• Local travel may be required.
• Perform other job assignments as required.

Requirements

• Basic knowledge of criminal justice procedures.
• Excellent customer service, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Outlook, Excel, etc.).
• Empathy and the ability to build rapport with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
• High level of attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Must pass a background check and drug screening.
• At least 21 years of age.
• Reliable source of transportation.
• Valid Driver’s License.
• Valid auto insurance.
