About the role
The City of Fullerton Parks and Recreation Department seeks a Community Services Leader to join the team. This is an at-will/temporary/non-benefited position limited to 1000 hours per fiscal year.
Responsibilities
- Deliver high-quality customer service while supporting a diverse patron base at the Parks & Recreation Department's primary resource hub, which houses the Fullerton Senior Club, Boys & Girls Club of Fullerton, and the Fullerton Aquatics Sports Team's indoor facility.
- Affirmatively recruit, organize, and lead a variety of recreational activities.
- Assist with facility and event setup for classes, rentals, and City events.
- Manage bookings and site tours.
- Ensure smooth operations through effective communication, problem-solving, and equipment oversight.
- Support senior, wellness, and contract programming.
- Support youth, teen, after-school, and summer programs.
- Plan activities and events.
- Cook and serve food.
- Coordinate volunteers and donations.
- Create marketing content.
- Perform administrative tasks such as data collection and analysis.
- Work various City-sponsored special events, including some holidays.
- Affirmatively recruit, organize, and lead a variety of recreational activities.
Qualifications
- Completion of the 10th grade.
- Some group leadership experience working with children or adults.
Special Requirements
- A valid and appropriate class C California Driver’s License and acceptable driving record at time of appointment and throughout employment in this position depending on area of assignment.
- To be enrolled in the Department of Motor Vehicles Government Pull Notice Program.
- To be available to work on July fourth and December 31st.
- To have a current negative tuberculin test at time of appointment and additional tuberculin screening as required by the Parks and Recreation Department depending on the area assigned.
Supplemental Information
- All new hires will be required to pass a background check, including being fingerprinted.
- Fingerprints are verified with the Department of Justice.
