About the role
The Community Residence Counselor (CRC) position at the Klarman Eating Disorders Center (KEDC) of The McLean Hospital Corporation Mass General Brigham is a direct patient care role. This position requires one-year patient care or related experience, preferably in a psychiatric setting.
Responsibilities
- Provides direct patient care in accordance with the treatment plan, under supervision of the Nurse Manager, Clinical Coordinator, and Charge Nurse.
- Supervises community activities according to patient needs.
- Awareness and alertness during work hours.
- Clear and timely documentation and shift notes.
- Establishes and maintains professional relationships with patients.
- Participates in patient rounds, status checks, or teams as per program guidelines.
- Completes assigned patient care tasks per program guidelines and daily assignment sheet.
- Manages the therapeutic milieu.
- Provides direction and supervision to patients as needed.
- Follows hospital and program policies, procedures, and protocols.
- Communicates patient milieu/therapeutic environment to appropriate staff.
- Communicates observations related to medication side effects, physical, and emotional changes to appropriate medical staff.
- Encourages patients in their activities of daily living.
- Assesses and manages sleep patterns, assisting patients in developing appropriate sleep cycles as necessary.
- Completes mandatory annual in-service requirements, including CPR and de-escalation training.
- Attends and participates in rounds and case conferences when appropriate.
- Supports residents with daily routines, medical reminders, meal preparation, transportation, and personal care as needed.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent required, with a Bachelor's Degree in a related field preferred.
- Medication Administration Program Certified (MAP - Massachusetts) from the Massachusetts Department of Public Health required.
- Class D Passenger Vehicle Driver's License from the state of residence, as required.
- Knowledge of basic computer skills to use PRISM for communication, clinical, and administrative purposes.
- Familiarity with Epic is preferred.
- Ability to drive, including transporting patients, may be required based on role and location.
