About the Role

As a Community and Project Specialist II/III, you will serve as the face of Williams to advance community outreach strategies and relationships. You'll execute innovative solutions to sophisticated problems while collaborating with a wide range of internal teams and community leaders to achieve company goals and objectives. Success in this role requires exceptional interpersonal skills, the ability to independently initiate and execute projects, and a strong understanding of business commitments and customer requirements.

This is an in-office role supporting the company's local and/or project outreach initiatives by assisting in developing and supporting outreach plans that proactively engage the public. The specialist serves as the primary face of Williams in the respective region/business unit and the central contact point for local outreach and stakeholder engagement efforts. This role identifies issues and acts as a conduit of information from the community to management.

This is a highly collaborative position, interacting with Williams’ operations personnel, community leaders, environmental advocacy groups, civic organizations, neighborhood associations, and the media. The successful candidate will initiate, design, and execute project outreach strategies in support of company, business unit, and/or project teams’ goals and objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborates with project teams to support decision-making, identify emerging issues, and mitigate risks
  • Establishes and nurtures relationships with internal and local stakeholders to ensure all project phases are delivered timely and consistently
  • Represents the company at public forums and local outreach events
  • Guides the efficiency and effectiveness of local and public outreach efforts
  • Interacts with third-party firms to assist in local outreach and other engagements
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Level III

  • Required: Bachelor's Degree in Public Affairs, Communications, or Political Science and a minimum of 5 years of public relations, corporate communications, government affairs, or project management
  • Preferred: Master's Degree in Public Relations and a minimum of 7 years of corresponding experience

Level II

  • Required: Bachelor’s degree in Public Relations, Communications, or Political Science and a minimum of 3 years' experience in politics or community engagement

Requirements

  • Demonstrates excellent oral and written communication and presentation skills
  • Strong organizational and project management skills
  • Adept at relationship building within the organization and with outside groups
  • Proven ability to identify challenges, develop solutions, and drive resolution
  • Knowledge of the energy industry
  • Ability to travel up to 50% required
