Community Planner II
About the role
As a Community Planner II at Bolton & Menk, you’ll play a key role in shaping growing communities across the Twin Cities, while expanding your impact and visibility and helping advance our mission that all people should live in safe, sustainable, and beautiful communities.
Responsibilities
- Move beyond support work into greater ownership—guiding planning studies, land development reviews, and entitlement efforts from concept through implementation.
- Analyze data, develop clear and visually compelling reports, and turn complex planning topics into practical, actionable solutions.
- Step into a more client-facing role, leading presentations, facilitating meetings, and engaging directly with community members, public officials, developers, and project partners to build alignment and move projects forward.
- Collaborate with a talented, supportive team and take on greater ownership and visibility across projects.
- Contribute to long range planning and comprehensive plans for clients—gaining valuable exposure to a wide range of project types.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Urban Planning, Public Policy, or other closely related field from an accredited college or university with 4 years of progressive planning experience or equivalent education and experience.
- Certification by the American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP) preferred, but not required.
- Thorough knowledge and skills in GIS and its planning uses preferred, but not required.
- General knowledge in Adobe Creative Suite.
- Strong skills in client needs assessment, meeting quality standards for service, and evaluation of client satisfaction.
Qualifications
- Possess a valid driver’s license as travel to various facilities and job sites may be required.
Skills
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.

$75,000 - $105,000 depending on years of experience and credentials
