While specific operational skills are easily taught, a sincere and natural care for others is an essential quality our team must possess from day one.The RoleThe Community Host is the first face of Grotto—the person who sets the tone for every visit. You make every guest feel like they belong here before they've even changed into a robe.As the initial and final point of contact, you ensure that the journey begins and ends with warmth. You are the gateway to our community, turning what could be a simple entry into a meaningful welcome.This role sits at the intersection of hospitality and membership. You aren't just checking people in; you're recognizing returning members, orienting newcomers, and ensuring every interaction is grounded in connection rather than just a transaction.Whether a guest arrives with excitement or a bit of nervous curiosity, your primary objective is to make them feel entirely at ease and welcomed into the fold.You will serve as a knowledgeable guide, helping guests navigate our membership options and bathhouse rituals. By building trust through authentic conversation, you naturally identify those ready to deepen their relationship with Grotto.The Community Host reports to the General Manager and works closely with the Membership Director and the full front-of-house team.Core ResponsibilitiesCheck-In & Front Desk OperationsWelcome every guest warmly and by name when possible; first impressions define the Grotto experienceManage the reception flow with precision: handle check-ins, verify bookings, process payments, and facilitate retail transactionsEnsure first-time visitors are fully oriented to the space and feel comfortable before they begin their thermal circuitAnswer phones and digital inquiries, serving as an expert on Grotto's offerings, memberships, and schedulesMaintain a front desk atmosphere that remains calm and unhurried, even during peak capacity periodsGuest Relations & HospitalityCultivate authentic relationships with our member community and frequent guestsHone your memory for faces and personal details, ensuring guests feel known and valued beyond a digital profileAnticipate needs proactively—noticing when a guest looks confused or could use extra assistance before they have to askFacilitate introductions to membership through thoughtful, low-pressure dialogue that centers on the guest's wellness journeyCollect and relay qualitative guest feedback to help the leadership team continuously refine the Grotto experienceFacility Awareness & CommunicationStay fully briefed on daily operations, including capacity levels, special events, and programming schedulesCommunicate proactively with Experience Guides, Housekeepers, and Café staff to ensure a seamless flow for guestsOversee the presentation of the entry and reception areas, ensuring they remain tidy, organized, and welcomingManage administrative duties including opening and closing protocols and maintaining front-of-house suppliesDevelop deep expertise in sauna culture and contrast therapy to act as a trusted resource for every visitorAdministrative SupportSupport the entire team by jumping in wherever help is needed to maintain service excellenceWork across departments to ensure the member journey is fluid and cohesive from arrival to departureParticipate in pre-shift huddles, contributing fresh ideas to improve our operational rhythm and hospitality standardsFoster a supportive workplace culture where teammates feel as cared for as our guestsAttributesMemory for faces and namesYou remember personal details from past conversations, making guests feel recognized as individuals rather than just processed arrivals.Genuinely welcomingYou have a natural ability to put people at ease. You assist your teammates whenever necessary, knowing that great guest experiences are always a collective effort.QualificationsRequired1–3 years experience in a high-touch hospitality role: reception, boutique hotel, private club, or similarExceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to be warm and professional in every interactionComfort with reservation software, booking systems, and point-of-sale platformsNatural organizational ability and the skill to manage multiple guest priorities simultaneouslyA genuine passion for serving others and a naturally hospitable demeanorPhysical ability to stand for the duration of a shift (up to 8 hours)Availability for non-traditional hours, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidaysFluency in English is required; Spanish proficiency is strongly preferred for the Miami marketPreferredExperience in membership-based environments where long-term guest relationships are keyFamiliarity with platforms such as Momence, TRYBE, Mindbody, or similar membership management softwareExperience with member onboarding or introducing guests to loyalty programsInterest in thermal bathing, sauna culture, design, and holistic wellnessLocal knowledge of the Wynwood area and Miami's evolving cultural landscapeCompensation & BenefitsCompetitive hourly rate commensurate with hospitality experienceDiscounts on cafe items, retail products, and additional servicesHealth benefits available for eligible full-time team membersClear growth opportunities as Grotto Social Baths expandsIf you believe that the heart of hospitality is making every individual feel profoundly welcome, we would love to hear from you.
