Community Health Systems Intern

Part-time (10-12 hours/week), temporary hybrid internship based in Boston (September 2026—December 2026). Candidates must be able to legally work or study in the U.S. without visa sponsorship.

About the role

The Community Health Systems intern will support the work of Campaneros en Salud, a sister organization of Partners in Health (PIH) and the Community Health Impact Coalition (CHIC). Under the direction of the PIH Director of Community Health Systems, the intern will research regions of expansion and facilitate transnational connectedness. This internship is a collaboration between Partners in Health and the Tufts Community Health Department, aiming to expose the intern to global health nonprofit work while supporting Dr. Palazuelos’ projects and the intern’s own goals.

Responsibilities

• Attend monthly cross-site PIH meetings.
• Assist Dr. Palazuelos with research-related tasks (70% of time), including independent decision-making and potential report writing.
• Manage monthly cross-site Community Health Worker (CHW) calls.
• Work with regional teams to move papers to publication.
• Collaborate with PIH sites on regional and organization-level projects (30% of time), including independent decision-making and potential report writing.

Requirements

• High school diploma.
• Extracurricular activities, coursework, or demonstrated interest in movement building, community organizing, or advocacy strongly preferred.
• At least three months of prior formalized research experience.
• Ability to work independently and self-direct projects/tasks in a timely manner.
• Strong commitment to global health equity.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, PowerPoint, Word, etc.).
• Video and/or audio editing experience is preferred but not required.
