Community Health Nurse Supervisor
Description of Work
This position focuses on supervising public health staff, assessing community needs, and guiding programs that improve health outcomes statewide. It blends leadership, planning, and collaboration to ensure strong, effective public health services. As a Community Health Nurse Supervisor, you will perform the following duties:
- Disease Oversight: Ensure case investigations and surveillance for reportable diseases using approved systems and manuals
- Clinical Leadership: Direct clinical practices and guide staff in delivering public health services
- Program Planning: Plan and direct clinical services, emergency response activities, and community initiatives
- Community Assessment: Lead community health assessments to identify priorities and address local needs
- Partner Coordination: Direct staff in working with agencies, schools, and health professionals to support public health initiatives
- Committee Representation: Represent the department on committees and advocate for public health programs
Qualifications Required
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements: Three years as a Community Health Nurse (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or Four years of community health nursing experience; or An equivalent combination of experience and training.
Special Requirements: You must possess active authorization to practice as a Registered Nurse in Pennsylvania. All employees possessing an active temporary practice permit must obtain licensure as a Registered Nurse within the one (1) year period defined by the Pennsylvania State Board of Nursing.

Legal Requirements: You must pass a background investigation. This position falls under the provisions of the Child Protective Services Law. Under the Law, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports including, but not limited to, PA State Police clearance, PA Child Abuse history clearance, and FBI Fingerprint clearance.
