Community Health Aide Trainee

About the role

The Yukon-Kuskokwim Health Corporation is a Tribal health care organization serving nearly 30,000 people across rural, southwest Alaska. This position provides primary and emergency health care services at the village clinic.

Responsibilities

• Provide primary health care and emergency care to patients at the village clinic.
• Communicate in English and, if applicable, the local language of the village.
• Travel to Bethel and other training sites for basic and required trainings.
• Participate in preventative and chronic care activities as appropriate to your level of training.
• Able to provide year-round coverage, including summers.
• Willing and able to provide itinerant (“float”) coverage to other YKHC villages as assigned.

Requirements

• Must be a resident of the village or agree to relocate for the purpose of serving as a Community Health Aide/Practitioner.
• Must have the ability to communicate in English and prefer the ability to speak the local language of the village.
• Must be willing and able to travel to Bethel and/or other training sites.
• Must be willing and able to provide itinerant (“float”) coverage to other YKHC villages as assigned.
• Full-time float CHAPs will function in the same capacity as all other CHAPs, except they will serve villages on an itinerant basis as determined by the Field Supervision Coordinator.

Qualifications

• Positive work history.
• Must be nominated by Traditional or IRA Council of the village that you will be providing service.
• Must attend Health Aide Sessions I, II, III, IV to become a certified CHP.
• Must be certified ETT or EMT.
• If rehired, must be certified and meet YKHC re-entry guidelines.

Skills

• Experience with Microsoft Word and email.
• Proficient with RPMS and Telehealth within 3 months of hire.

Pay

Minimum hourly pay: $23.73
