Community Engagement Officer
About the role
The Community Engagement Officer is responsible for building trusted community relationships that translate into measurable membership growth, deeper member relationships, and a strong, mission-driven brand presence. This role serves as the credit union's primary ambassador to the community—developing strategic partnerships, expanding field-of-membership awareness, and ensuring community engagement efforts deliver clear business and member outcomes.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in communications, Public Relations, Marketing, or related field, preferred, not required.
- 3+ years of experience in community relations, nonprofit engagement, or CSR.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Passion for community service and member-focused values.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and work collaboratively across departments.
- Experience in the financial services or credit union industry.
- Bilingual (Spanish or other language) a plus.
Compliance
Every employee must uphold the credit union's compliance with the Bank Secrecy Act and anti-money laundering policies and procedures. Specific functions within B.S.C.U. will consider awareness of unusual or suspicious activity relevant to the department. In addition to any other assigned training courses, online B.S.A. and O.F.A.C. courses must be completed at least annually, as made available by the Training and Compliance Department. Maintains comprehensive knowledge of the Bank Secrecy Act, Customer Identification Program, U.S.A. Patriot Act, O.F.A.C., Fair Lending, and Credit Card Act.
