About the role

The Community Donation Manager oversees the day-to-day operations of the Community Donation Center, ensuring it is the preferred donation destination. This role manages a team of Ambassadors, upholds company standards, and promotes brand awareness in the community. The position averages 45 hours per week and is non-exempt.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and direct all processes related to the Community Donation Center (CDC), ensuring it is organized, clean, safe, and welcoming.
  • Partner with the Production Manager/Store Manager to manage donation flow into the production room, maintaining a steady supply.
  • Engage with customers and donors to promote Savers’ brand both in-store and in the community.
  • Ensure donations are accurately weighed, classified, and accounted for.
  • Plan, track, and measure donation goals and results.
  • Schedule CDC Ambassadors using the CDC Scheduler and Daily Planner, aligning coverage with expected volume.
  • Utilize branded signage and company-approved materials to promote the Savers brand.
  • Leverage the Voice of the Customer Program to improve donor satisfaction.
  • Lead, direct, and supervise the work of CDC Ambassadors, including recruiting, training, coaching, and providing feedback.
  • Develop a culture of appreciation for donors and donations, ensuring fast, friendly, and respectful service.
  • Identify and develop high-potential team members for supervisory and management roles.
  • Role model and maintain a respectful, values-driven workplace adhering to Savers’ policies.
  • Deliver a positive donor experience by training, coaching, and role-modeling service expectations.
  • Continuously assess donor areas and direct team activities to meet standards.
  • Actively engage with donors to gather feedback and improve the donor experience.
  • Educate store team members on Savers’ brand and empower them to share the business model with customers.
  • Promote awareness of the nonprofit partner, joint brands, and community impact.
  • Drive company promotions and grassroots efforts to create community awareness of the CDC and Savers’ brand.
  • Partner with the Sourcing team to lead or assist in Fundrive events as needed.
  • Network within the community to share the Savers story and promote awareness.

Requirements

  • Excellent presentation skills.
  • Strong mathematical skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in both verbal and written forms.
  • Ability to observe, assess, and coach the work of others.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written and/or verbal form.
  • Ability to reason, make decisions, and use independent judgment in various situations.
  • Proficient in all Microsoft Office applications.
  • High School diploma required; post-secondary degree/diploma preferred.
  • Experience managing people preferred.

Physical Requirements

  • Frequently lift and carry products weighing less than 5 lbs; occasionally up to 50 lbs.
  • Occasional pushing and pulling of racks/carts weighing 50 to 250 pounds using 4–10 lbs. of force.
  • Frequent reaching in various directions to inspect/handle merchandise, validate processes, and train/coach the team.
  • Dexterity for complex hand-eye tasks, including keyboarding, writing, and merchandise inspection.
  • Continuous standing, frequent walking, stooping, bending, twisting, and occasional kneeling.
  • Frequent reading of written and electronic documents and product labels.
  • Continuous verbal communication and hearing to interact with team members, management, and customers.
  • Occasional exposure to hazardous machinery (compactor, baler), solvents, radiation (microwave), dust, and temperature fluctuations.
  • Ability to adjust work schedule to business needs, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Ability to safely navigate work environments with industrial machinery, heavy equipment, elevated/uneven surfaces, and moving forklifts.

Schedule

Location: 4690 High Pointe Blvd., Harrisburg, PA 17111. Periodic travel to meetings or other stores may be required.
