This is a non-exempt role averaging 45 hours per week, including some nights, weekends, and holidays.

About the role

As the Community Donation Manager, you will oversee the day-to-day operations of the Community Donation Center, ensuring Savers becomes the donation center of choice. You’ll uphold company standards, manage donor interactions, and promote brand awareness in the community while leading a team of Community Donation Center Ambassadors.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and direct all processes related to the Community Donation Center, ensuring it is organized, clean, safe, and welcoming.
  • Partner with the Production Manager/Store Manager to regulate donation flow into the production room.
  • Engage with customers and donors to promote Savers’ brand both in-store and in the community.
  • Ensure donations are accurately weighed, classified, and accounted for.
  • Plan, track, and measure donation goals and results.
  • Schedule CDC Ambassadors using the CDC Scheduler and Daily Planner to align coverage with expected volume.
  • Utilize branded signage and company-approved materials to promote the Savers brand.
  • Leverage the Voice of the Customer Program to improve donor satisfaction.
  • Lead, supervise, and develop a team of CDC Ambassadors, including recruitment, training, coaching, and performance management.
  • Foster a culture of appreciation for donors and donations, ensuring fast, friendly, and respectful service.
  • Identify and develop high-potential team members for future leadership roles.
  • Role model and maintain a respectful, values-driven workplace adhering to Savers’ policies and procedures.
  • Deliver an exceptional donor experience by training, coaching, and role-modeling service expectations.
  • Assess donor areas continuously to ensure standards are met and address donor questions, requests, or complaints.
  • Educate store team members on Savers’ brand and empower them to share the business model with customers and the community.
  • Promote awareness of Savers’ nonprofit partner, joint brands, and community impact.
  • Drive company promotions and grassroots efforts to increase community awareness of the CDC and Savers’ brand.
  • Partner with the Sourcing team to lead or assist in Fundrive events as needed.
  • Network within the community to share Savers’ story and promote donation benefits.
  • Perform the duties of a CDC Ambassador as required.

Requirements

  • Excellent presentation and communication skills (verbal and written).
  • Strong mathematical skills.
  • Ability to observe, assess, and coach the work of others.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • High school diploma (post-secondary degree/diploma preferred).
  • Experience managing people is preferred.

Physical Requirements

  • Frequently lift and carry products weighing less than 5 lbs; occasionally lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
  • Occasionally push and pull racks/carts weighing 50–250 lbs using 4–10 lbs of force.
  • Frequent reaching in various directions to handle merchandise, validate processes, and train/coach team members.
  • Continuous standing, frequent walking, stooping, bending, twisting, and occasional kneeling.
  • Dexterity for complex hand-eye tasks, including keyboarding, writing, and merchandise inspection.
  • Continuous need to read documents/labels and communicate verbally in person, via intercom, and by telephone.
  • Occasional exposure to hazardous machinery (compactor, baler), solvents, radiation (microwave), dust, and temperature fluctuations.
  • Able to navigate environments with industrial machinery, heavy equipment, elevated/uneven surfaces, and moving forklifts.
  • Frequent reaching to move/stack boxes, hang/remove products, and stock displays.
